Shelter Tours for Kids... In Honor of Be Kind to Animals Week

This summer SNAP took students from City Heights neighborhoods on three exciting animal shelter tours. The students (accompanied by SNAP volunteers) got a chance to see how a shelter is run, to meet the people involved -- both staff and volunteers -- and of course to visit the animals waiting for adoption. In July we visited Friends of Cats in El Cajon; in July we toured the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility; and in August we stopped by the El Cajon Animal Shelter.

At Friends of Cats the students groomed and socialized cats and kittens. The cats loved it as you can see (click photos to see full-size images). Some kitties even received treats!
