Grant will pay for medical and surgical supplies to spay/neuter East San Diego County pets

ACES Foundation has awarded Spay-Neuter Action Project (SNAP) a $25,000 grant to cover the cost of medical and surgical supplies to spay and neuter 630 pet dogs, cats, and rabbits of low-income East San Diego County residents. With a mission to help shelter animals of El Cajon, what better way to reduce shelter intake and pet homelessness then through supporting more spay and neuter of the local pets. The surgeries will be done at the SNAP East Spay Center at 702 Broadway, El Cajon. This is the 4th grant that SNAP has received from ACES Foundation.

San Diego County animal shelters, including the El Cajon shelter, continue to be in a crisis situation, due to overcrowding. SNAP has joined our shelter partners and rescue groups to increase services to the community, and spay/neuter is the best way to reduce the number of unwanted litters from entering local shelters. SNAP mission is to save lives by reducing pet overpopulation.

Pets will also receive a health exam, nail trimming, flea and tick treatment, deworming, pain medication, recovery collars, and vaccinations. Wound care is provided when needed, and for a nominal fee, neutering of animals with cryptorchidism, loose teeth extraction, simple hernia repairs, and microchips.
“SNAP is very appreciative of ACES Foundation for their continued support of low-cost spay/neuter for East San Diego County pets” said Dorell Phillips Sackett, SNAP’s Executive Director.
