MILITARY PET OWNERS

SNAP partners with the San Diego Chapter of Dogs on Deployment to provide military personnel with canine companions, a “chit” to redeem for a free spay or neuter. Service members grades E1-E4, local or overseas, are screened by Dogs on Deployment and then referred to SNAP.

Chula Vista Animal Care Facility »
Offers spay/neuter services for residents of Chula Vista, National City, and Lemon Grove only, with no income restrictions. The cost is $20 for cats and $40 for dogs.

Feral Cat Coalition »
Lends humane traps when available and provides free spay/neuter services for community cats.

Pet Assistance Foundation »
Provides referrals to low-cost spay/neuter services, information on municipal coupons or vouchers and special humane society programs, and subsidies to pet owners who demonstrate financial need.

San Diego Humane Society »
Offers spay and neuter services for pet cats and dogs of residents of San Diego and Imperial Counties at their El Cajon, Escondido (including pigs), Oceanside (including rabbits), and San Diego campuses. Household income must be less than $100,000 per year.

The Animal Welfare Foundation »
Offers spay/neuter financial assistance as well as sponsor the cost to euthanize companion animals too ill or injured to save.

FACE Foundation »
For animal owners who are unable to afford the cost of their pet’s emergency or critical care.

For City of San Diego District 6 Residents: Spay/Neuter VOUCHERS for low-income City of San Diego District 6 residents are available through June 30, 2026. Contact SNAP to obtain a $50 per cat or $100 per dog discount if you live in District 6. Eligible ZIP codes: 92111, 92117, 92121, 92123, 92126, 92129, 92145.

For E1-E4 Active Duty Military: DOD Pet Chits (for free spay/neuter) are for E1-E4. SNAP can still help if you do not qualify for a DOD Pet Chit.
