The Betty White Challenge captivated our Nation on what would have been her 100th birthday! Betty loved animals and encouraged donations to benefit shelters and rescue operations through social media.
Thanks to the donations we received, SNAP is going to make a wish come true for an animal control officer at the San Diego Department of Animal Services (DAS). She patrols small communities throughout unincorporated areas of the County and has seen the beginnings of pet overpopulation. She reached out to us for help before the problem gets worse; DAS provides rabies vaccines and licenses but they do not have the means for spay/neuter surgeries. It’s fitting that the proceeds from the Betty White Challenge will go toward a clinic in Shelter Valley.
The residents of Shelter Valley are so grateful, that they are even making accommodations for our medical staff to stay the night before the clinic. We will report back via our newsletter on the outcome and resident stories once the clinic has taken place.
Thank you for making this specialty clinic possible – and for all those who donated!
