Be Kind to Animals Art Contest
May 3 @ 12:00 am - May 10 @ 11:59 pm

It’s Be Kind to Animals Week May 3rd–May 9th, and time for SNAP’s annual BKA ART Contest!
This year, we’re excited to make it even bigger by celebrating “Be Kind to Animals Week 2026” with a brand-new combined theme:
“Kind Kids, Kind Paws”
Building a better world for all of us begins with a few simple actions. Organizations like SNAP are challenging you to commit to protecting and improving the lives of animals during Be Kind to Animals Week®, taking place May 3–9, 2026.
In celebration of this humane education campaign, SNAP is hosting its annual art contest, open to all students and all artistic mediums. This year’s themes include:
- Taking care of my pet
- What pets need to be healthy
- What pets need to be happy
- Miscellaneous pets
Selected artwork will be compiled into a book and shared at SNAP events to help educate others on ways we can show kindness to animals.
We invite you to use your creativity to show how you care for animals—whether it’s your own pet or wildlife in your neighborhood.
Here are some ideas to inspire you:
- Walking your dog and spending quality time together
- Brushing or grooming your cat to keep them happy and healthy
- Making sure your pet wears an ID tag or has a microchip
- Bringing your bunny fresh hay and clean water
- Setting up a bird feeder or birdbath in your yard
- Helping a lost pet find their way home
- Creating a cozy shelter for outdoor animals in the winter
- Volunteering at or visiting an animal shelter
- Planting native flowers to support bees and butterflies
- Gently rescuing and releasing a trapped insect
- Donating food or toys to an animal rescue
- Adopting—not shopping—for a new pet
- Teaching younger siblings or friends how to treat animals with care
- Recycling to help protect animal habitats
- Reporting animal cruelty or neglect to a responsible adult
- Bringing your pet to a spay/neuter clinic to help reduce pet overpopulation
You can express your ideas through painting, drawing, digital art, collage, or any medium that helps share your message of compassion.
ARTWORK MUST BE RECEIVED BY MAY 10th.
