San Diego, December 16, 2024

Spay-Neuter Action Project (SNAP) is excited to receive a generous grant award of $20,000 from Las Patronas, towards the purchase of a SNAP truck which will transport supplies, staff, volunteers, and more to our spay/neuter clinics and other events. This vehicle has been critically needed by SNAP in order to continue our mission to save lives by reducing pet overpopulation.

Spay/neuter helps to prevent more unwanted animals from being born, thereby reducing the crisis at already over-capacity local animal shelters. Since 2003, SNAP has provided more than 85,000 no- and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for pets of financially challenged clients in underserved San Diego County communities.

“We are very grateful to Las Patronas for their ongoing support of SNAP, including our first grant of $7,574.20 in 2016 for surgical instruments, and $20,000 in 2019 towards the purchase of our second “Neuter Scooter” mobile surgical bus. Partners such as Las Patronas are essential to SNAP’s work to reduce pet overpopulation in San Diego County by helping low-income residents spay and neuter their pets” said Dorell Sackett, SNAP’s Executive Director.

About Spay-Neuter Action Project (SNAP)
SNAP became a registered nonprofit organization in 1996. SNAP was the first organization in the San Diego region to implement programs to reduce the number of companion animals euthanized in local shelters. SNAP’s Neuter Scooter brings no- and low-cost spay/neuter services directly to communities struggling with chronic pet overpopulation, and the SNAP East Spay Center serves East County residents. SNAP has become the primary provider of affordable spay/neuter services in San Diego County.
