Spay-Neuter Action Project (SNAP) Partners with Project Street Vet and Dreams for Change to Provide Free Spay and Neuter Services for Pets at San Diego’s “O’” Safe Lot on December 3rd.
San Diego, CA – December 3, 2024 – The Spay Neuter Action Project (SNAP) is excited to announce a partnership with Project Street Vet and Dreams for Change to bring the Neuter Scooter mobile clinic to the “O” Safe Lot, a space dedicated to providing safe overnight parking and resources for local unhoused individuals and families. Thanks to a generous sponsorship from local resident Dina Demeo, this initiative will provide free spay and neuter services for 30 resident pets on Dec 3, also known as #GIVINGTUESDAY.
Pets residing in the “O” Safe Lot are required to be spayed, neutered, and vaccinated to support health, safety, and population control. Inspired by the kindness of unhoused individuals caring for pets and aware of the impact of unaltered pets on the streets, Demeo reached out to SNAP, offering to sponsor services for those in need.
“Many of the unhoused individuals here have pets that are not yet spayed or neutered, and Dina’s support allows us to bring these vital services directly to them,” said SNAP’s Director Dorell Sackett. “This collaboration with Project Street Vet and Dreams for Change allows us to address pet overpopulation at the root and enhance the well-being of pets in these communities.”
On December 3rd, SNAP’s Neuter Scooter will be onsite to provide free spay and neuter surgeries. Project Street Vet will offer wellness checks, wound treatment, flea prevention, food, and basic supplies for pets, while SNAP’s services will focus on reducing pet overpopulation through accessible spaying and neutering.
