FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Diego, CA – February 16, 2026

San Diego, CA — Spay-Neuter Action Project (SNAP) is proud and grateful to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from SPCA International to sponsor its important Fix the Future® spay and neuter clinics in celebration of National Spay Day. This generous support will allow SNAP to help twice the number of pets, making lifesaving spay and neuter surgeries more accessible to low-income pet owners throughout San Diego County.

On Spay Day, February 24, 2026, SNAP will offer deeply discounted surgeries to help families provide essential care for their four-legged family members:

  • $25 spays or neuters for cats
  • $35 spays or neuters for dogs

These reduced-cost services will be available at both SNAP’s Spay Center and aboard the mobile surgical suite, the SNAP Neuter Scooter.

February is nationally recognized as Spay & Neuter Awareness Month, and thanks to SPCA International’s support, SNAP can offer these incredible special clinics in two low-income areas of the county at the same time during one of the most important months for animal welfare. By removing financial barriers, SNAP helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces shelter intake, and improves the long-term health and well-being of pets and communities.

“SPCA International’s generosity will make a real and immediate difference for pets and the people who love them,” said Dorell Sackett, Director of SNAP. “Their support ensures that cost is not a barrier to providing these lifesaving surgeries, especially during Spay & Neuter Awareness Month.”

Since 2003, SNAP has sterilized more than 95,000 pets in San Diego County and continues to expand access to affordable, high-quality spay and neuter services for those most in need.
